My Instruments and Equipment

My main instrument is an Andreas Zeller 3/4 size Double Bass. Purchased from and set up by Bridgewood & Neitzert of Stoke Newington, London. I use Pirastro jazz bass strings and a K & K pick up and preamp system. I also have a realist pick up as back up.
I also have one of Aria’s SWB electric upright basses, this is obviously more portable, but it also has a much more modern sound. Almost like that of a fretless bass guitar, but with more warmth. On this bass I use Pirastro Obligatos.
My bass guitar is a 5 string Peavey. I believe it is one of Peavey’s Grind series although the inlays are in different positions and it has gold hardware. On this I am currently using DR handmade strings.
My main amp is a Gallien Krueger MB150 bass combo. It struggles for rock rehearsals, but is fine for any small gig, has an unbeatable tone for upright bass and is very portable.
As a back up amp and for larger venues I use my Hartke HA4000 head and 2×10 Transporter Cabinet. They have incredible punch and a funky crunched kind of a sound.
I have a vast collection of pedals (for a bassist). Although I hardly use them now, it’s good to have them hanging around for those special occasions.
